Setting Up Stop Motion Studio with Shared iPad

Shared iPad allows multiple students to share the same device while keeping their projects synced through iCloud. Here’s how to enable and configure this feature for Stop Motion Studio:

Prerequisites:

  • Ensure that you are using Stop Motion Studio version 10.1 or later.
  • Make sure iCloud is enabled on the iPads.

Enable iCloud Support for Stop Motion Studio:

  1. Configure MDM Settings:
    • Option: isStoreProjectsIniCloudEnabled
    • Description: Enables iCloud support for syncing projects across different devices.
    • Value: Set to YES or true to enable.
  2. Steps to Configure Using MDM:
    • Access MDM Console: Log in to your MDM system’s administration console.
    • Locate App Configuration: Find the section where you can manage or configure app settings.
    • Add/Edit Configuration Profile: Add a new configuration profile or edit an existing one for Stop Motion Studio.
    • Set iCloud Support: Ensure that isStoreProjectsIniCloudEnabled is set to YES or true.
    • Deploy Configuration: Save and deploy the configuration to the managed iPads.

Testing Shared iPad with Stop Motion Studio:

  1. Create a New Project:
    • Open Stop Motion Studio on one iPad.
    • Create a new project and make some changes.
  2. Remove and Reinstall the App:
    • Delete Stop Motion Studio from the iPad.
    • Reinstall Stop Motion Studio from the App Store.
  3. Sync and Access Project:
    • After reinstalling, open Stop Motion Studio.
    • Wait for a short delay. The previously created project should reappear, ready for download.

Additional Notes:

  • iCloud Storage: Ensure that iCloud storage is available for syncing. Projects will be stored in iCloud and accessible on any shared iPad configured with the same iCloud account.
  • User Data Management: Shared iPad ensures that each student’s work is preserved even if their device is restored or purged of user data.
  • Project Availability: Projects created on one device should be visible on any other iPad with the same configuration and iCloud settings.

By enabling these settings, you ensure that students can seamlessly continue their work across different devices and maintain access to their projects regardless of device changes.
