Introducing a New Version Numbering System for Stop Motion Studio!

We’re pleased to announce that the upcoming version of Stop Motion Studio will feature a new version numbering scheme. Instead of using arbitrary numbers, we’ll be adopting a date-based system. Originally, we started with version 1.0 and progressed to 2.0, and so on. This worked well until we released the Android and Windows versions, each starting again at 1.0. This led to three different version numbers for each platform’s progression. To simplify things, the next release will follow a year.month format, such as 24.05.

This update adds RAW capture support, allowing you to use RAW or AppleProRAW on compatible devices. In addition, you can now save the original camera image along with the frame for future editing, with format choices including JPEG, PNG, TIFF, RAW, or AppleProRAW. USB Webcam compatibility for iPad is also introduced for supported iPad devices.

On MacOS, this update adds support for additional Canon DSLR cameras, improving compatibility and functionality. This update removes support for Sony and Nikon DSLR cameras.

In this release, we added six amazing LEGO® video tutorials created by Benjamin Ely from Rioforce Animations. If you want to create your very own brickfilm be sure to check it out.

This release contains several improvements to the paint module of the app. An outline brush is now shown during drawing and erasing. New keyboard shortcuts for a faster workflow and a new onion-skin controller for a better overview of your animation while drawing. There is also a new two finger double tap feature to zoom in and out during drawing.

We have fixed some issues and added some exciting new features. A live green screen filter can be applied to the remote camera and a connected DSLR camera. This update also adds Shared iPad support. Shared iPad allows sharing an iPad by multiple students. When enabled in the app, all projects are synced using iCloud. A student can start a project on one iPad and continue on a different iPad. Shared iPad support is available for managed devices only.

With the help of Apples new Catalyst technologie we where able to create a complete new version of Stop Motion Studio based on mobile version of the app. It has all the great features of the mobile version, like voice over recording, titles and credits and the image editor. The update fixes some issues where white balance selection was not working correctly.

Fixed an issue where the app may crash when deleting frames.
On the iPhone, the onion skin settings were not restored.
Onion skin was not shown after the first image was taken.
Sony Alpha, fixed an issue where multiple images were taken.
iTunes sharing removed since files can be exported to files app using ‘Save to files’.
The project browser shows the number of frames in the stripe’s view.

The latest update will add support for Sony Wifi enabled DSLR cameras. Now you can create movies in studio quality. The new project browser allows you to sort projects by name, date or duration. You can also see your project as film stripes for a better overview. More features of the update are:

All projects can be accessed directly using the Files app on your devices or iTunes file sharing. No export necessary. This way you can copy or backup all projects at once.
Projects can be used with the macOS version of the app without converting first.
We restored the merge feature with the option to merge multiple frames at once. All merge operations are fully undoable now.
18 new title and credit screens added.
All title and credit screens using the current frame as background.
Overview zoom feature added to the painter.
Option to jump to the previous and next frame added to the painter.
Option to show a grid added to the painter. This will make cropping an image easier.
ISO 50 has been added as new lowest ISO setting.
Fixes an issue where images names where not correct when exporting all images.
The last used FPS value is the default value for new projects.
You can now scrub the timeline during playback.
Option to paste a layer added to the painter.

With this update you can now add month and eye shapes to LEGO figures to create facial expressions or let them speak. We also added:

New music clips and audio effects.
The Eraser got two new tools, Conceal and Reveal to restore erased parts.
The Eraser allows you to select the clean frame to use for masking.

The movie speed settings is the first option in project settings now.
